GameMonster Privacy Policy
Effective September 25, 2026
GameMonster helps you keep track of the video games, consoles and accessories you own and want. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We, the developer, never receive your collection.
What GameMonster stores, and where
- On your iPhone: your collection and wishlist, including prices, dates and notes you enter, your settings, and automatic backups of your collection.
- In your iCloud, if iCloud Sync is on (it is on by default, and you can turn it off in Settings):
- a copy of your collection and your collecting preferences, kept in your own private iCloud database;
- that copy is encrypted by Apple's CloudKit before it leaves your iPhone;
- we have no access to it, and it counts toward your iCloud storage.
- Files you export: backups and spreadsheets go only where you choose to save or share them.
What leaves your iPhone
- Game artwork. Covers and screenshots load from IGDB (images.igdb.com, run by Twitch). IGDB can see your IP address and which images are requested, as with any website.
- Game list updates. Once a day at most, GameMonster checks our update server for a newer game list, and downloads it only on Wi-Fi. The request carries no information about you or your collection. The server, hosted by Cloudflare, sees your IP address, as with any website. We don't log or keep these requests.
- Monster AI. On iPhones that support it, your questions, and the details of your games needed to answer them (such as titles, platforms, what's included, regions, wishlist prices and the total you've recorded spending), are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers to be answered by Apple Intelligence. Apple states that Private Cloud Compute doesn't store your data or make it accessible to Apple. When those servers can't be reached, or your allowance for them is used up, questions are answered by Apple Intelligence on your iPhone instead, and nothing leaves it. GameMonster doesn't send your questions anywhere else, and doesn't save your conversations: they're gone when you start a new chat or close the app.
- Links you tap (price checks on PriceCharting or eBay, trailers on YouTube, IGDB) open in your browser. Those sites' own privacy policies apply.
What stays on your iPhone
- Scanning. Photos and barcodes are read on your iPhone. When the text on a photo isn't enough, Apple Intelligence may help read it, also on your iPhone. Photos are not saved or sent anywhere.
- Siri and Spotlight. Your collection is added to your iPhone's search index, so you can ask "Do I own this game?". The index stays on your iPhone.
What we collect
Nothing. GameMonster has no analytics or crash-reporting services of its own and no advertising. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They contain technical information about the crash, not your collection.
Deleting your data
- Settings › Delete All Data erases your collection, wishlist, backups and settings from your iPhone and from iCloud.
- You can also remove GameMonster's iCloud data in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.
- Deleting the app removes everything on the iPhone. Your iCloud copy, if any, stays until you delete it.
Children
GameMonster doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
